Another Berliner joins the boat: Lucie (Kim’s friend from Berlin)! She will be on the boat for a few weeks, helping us through the Panama Canal, and generally being awesome. In this episode we provision the boat, and sail from Puerto Lindo to Colón to get measured for the Canal.
We continue our journey to Panama, but not alone! With five guests we explore the San Blas Islands. A grounded ferry, coconuts en mass & scary storms: That’s what you are going to get with the 26th Episode of s/v Zingaro!
May I introduce you to Lucie…? She is our new crew member and another Berliner! That means the Germans rule the boat right now. You can imagine what that means: Bier for breakfast and Kartoffeln for dinner.
We got measured for the canal and are now checking out the region around Colón, while we are waiting for transiting the Panama Canal.
We have new crew arrive last night! Please welcome Lucie Leichsering, another Berliner (I’m outnumbered…). Lucie will be staying with us indefinitely, and definitely transiting the Panama Canal with us next week!
Guess what she brought?? Some of the world famous bread made fresh in the oven of Ute (Kim’s Mom)!!! It’s the best bread we’ve ever had. I wish I had some local bread to show you the difference, but I don’t like wasting food and we won’t eat it. 😉
Sailing Zingaro Live: Our last night in Berlin together, before The Captain heads to the boat! We’re talking about our plan so far and what we’ve been doing lately. We are still not quite sure where to go next, but most probably we are going to go to Costa Rica to take part at the electronic music Festival Envision.
The Berliner showed her Captain around in the most exciting city in the world and made him taste all the good stuff (Vollkornbrot und Bier). It was a lot of fun.
This episodes includes all the details of what happened when the Zingaro Crew left the wonderful Cuban waters and sailed to the Cayman Islands. It was a beautiful sail and the people that Melissa and James met when they arrived were even more beautiful.
Because what made the experience on the island so special were not the intact reefs, the regional food, the thousand jewelers or the tourist traps. It was the local, Mister Denton, that took them in and showed them Grand Cayman as only a crazy fisherman can do.
